Hi,
I am confused on the kumo shadow section in the book? The book
states it is the cloud that exists behind price. Ok, I take that to mean
the cloud behind a price bar. What confuses me are figures 1.53, 1.54
and one of the Ichimoku bullet check items in the backtest section.

1) in fig 1.53 - what do the 2 blocked areas represent? My guess is
the prices in the leftmost block + the prices in the middle
    represent the prices that make the kumo in the rightmost block;
which in turn is the shadow of the most current price bars.
    Is this correct?
2) figure 1.54 you have 3 arrows labeled kumo shadow and pointing to
the Senkou B edge. Are the arrows pointing to potential resistance
levels for the trend (once it breaks free of the cloud) ? Or is it just a
manner of pointing to the cloud as the shadow ?
What does the blocked off area mean ?
 3) On pg 48 (and others) the bullet Kumo Shadows: No: within12-month period.
Does that mean the price broke out of the Kumo within 12 months?
If so, what is the significance of 12 months?
I tried understanding some of the Kumo Shadow threads but unfortunately, large
chunks are missing due to obsolete links.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Victor

Hello,

Here are the responses:
1) in fig 1.53 - what do the 2 blocked areas represent? My guess is
the prices in the leftmost block + the prices in the middle
    represent the prices that make the kumo in the rightmost block;
which in turn is the shadow of the most current price bars.
    Is this correct?
[Manesh]   The first block going from price backwards shows the kumo shadow that will influence price when it goes up.   The second block shows the price action that created the Kumo shadow.

[Manesh]  I am just pointing to the Kumo shadow.    The block just shows you the immediate Kumo shadow that will influence price going up.

 3) On pg 48 (and others) the bullet Kumo Shadows: No: within12-month period.
Does that mean the price broke out of the Kumo within 12 months?
If so, what is the significance of 12 months?
[Manesh] A lot of people ask how far back should they look for a Kumo shadow.   Therefore, I defined an example.   I typically look back 12 months for major Kumo Shadow values.

I'm also quite confused with kumo shadows. Huh
Does it means that the shadows, especially those with "long flat" shadows, are also considered S/R for the current price when extended with horizontal trend line; and kumo shadows are the clouds behind the current price?

Is my question understandable? Grin

Hello,

Lets say you are bullish.   Draw a line at the current price.   Look back and see if you see any kumo clouds above that line.    Those are the shadows.    All the flat parts of the cloud especially senkou B act has major support/resistance.    The longer the flat part, the more stronger it is....

Thanks for this reply. But may I ask, how far back are you going to look? Is it possible to see some charts so you can pin point the kumo shadows.

Hello,

There is no right or wrong in regards to how far back you go.  You can go way back but the further it is the lower the strength.
