Does anyone use Pivot points with Ichimoku?  Can you detail how they are used in relation to ichimoku.  Entry, exit, stop loss etc.

Thanks

No need for Pivot Points, S&R, Fibs etc
Ichimoku has 5 elements which are all you need - people should KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) and not add anything to the charts
No RSI, no stochs, no MA crossovers......

Happy Pipping

Hi Rich

Ichimoku is a complete system without the need for pivot points.

No reason you cant add Pivot Points if you find it helps you - but you then need to choose which ones are best to use because there are many,  e.g. Floor Pivot Points, Woodie's Pivot Points, Camarilla Pivot Points, DeMark's Pivot Points, etc.

The reason I asked about pivot points was for a way to get out of trades without giving so much back.

Other then using the tenkan sen, kijun sen to get out of trades anyone using any other methods.

Thanks

Have you looked at Guppies Count Back Lines?

If you use a specific Pivot point you are basically using a set target. If you use TS or KS you are using a trailing stop.  2 different systems.

I think I have asked almost the same question before.

Anyways, does your S/L is too far from your entry price? What I normally do is lessen the leverage/units of the trade. Although sometimes it is still beyond my "target" risk. Cool

I looked into Guppy count back lines.  Seems like a good method to trail the stop. Have you had success with it?

Thanks

Hi Rich

Basically its whatever works for you. I still like the TS/KS an integral part of the complete Ichimoku system.

Hello,

Ichimoku has everything built in it as everyone mentioned.     You can use pivot points if you are a break out trader.   For example, if the Ichimoku indicators give you a "green light" to trade then you can take the last pivot and add/subtract a buffer and that can be your entry.

I was using Pivots with IKH and I really like how the system is displayed on thinkorswim however when you combine them with Pivots on that flatform, IKH appears distorted. Also from reading about the Ichimoku "N" Price Target projection theories and just looking at clusters of candle support/resistance, I found that Pivots with Ichimoku just became an unnecessary distraction and quite often an impediment as it will block or distort important candle price action that could get you into a high probability setup.

Hello,

Can you submit a chart please to clarify?  I use pivots in thinkorswim with Ichimoku all the time.     I don't think they distort Ichimoku at all.
